Description:
A relatively small crow, rather slim-bodied. Two-toned appearance, with paler nape, neck and breast. Adult has gloss to black of plumage, and 'collar' is well defined and becomes paler with wear. Juvenile lacks gloss, and 'collar' is duskier and less well defined.
Distribution:
Uncommon resident in the lower valleys of Diamer and Gilgit, along Indus and Gilgit Rivers. Always found in association with man, in variety of habitats from city-centers to villages. Chiefly a lowland species, mostly below 1000m.
Behavior:
Bold and aggressive by nature, with sociable scavenging habits, but also very wary of humans. Always alert, and constantly wary, nervously wing-flicking as it walks or hops on ground. Omnivorous scavenger, feeding on all manner of garbage, crops, invertebrates, vertebrates.
